Greetings,
The 36 hole scratch medal that is the Club Championship was played on Saturday. The course was set up perfectly by the greens staff and the weather was good for a long day's golf.
The number one seed three handicap Andy Venning was a comfortable nine shot winner at the close of play. Andy had very low score of 71+74=146.
He had a good morning score last year but couldn't hold it together in the afternoon round, so a well-deserved win. Andy went in the long grass just once in the day, probably the key to his win.
And remember your handicap comes from a scratch player going round in par Andy's score of five over for the day shows the course difficulty is just about right.
In second place was Robbie Fanstone 155 and in third was Tony Ellis with 156.

This week saw the longest day.... of my life!
When Bob Hudson invited/press ganged me to play in the longest day golf challenge I did not expect it to be quite this tough. It was held on Tuesday at Fulwell Golf Club in Twickenham. Bob also neglected to say we had to wear fancy dress, the first tee off was 4.30 am in driving rain and when Bob took the picture it was 9.30pm 72+holes later I can promise you it was a grimace not a smile!
I have new found admiration for Tom Caully who is a big lad and he carried his set for the whole day, round three was the hardest as we sat down for 15 mins that was fatal!
Round four was full of Dunkirk spirit and gallows humour from Tom Alan and Geoff. The fund raising was in aid of Battens Disease for the Sparks charity so sore feet and a stiff back made it all worthwhile. to see some more pictures, please click here.
