Greetings golfers,
Another week of enjoyable tour golf with the ice cold new boy An winning at Wentworth and yet another win for Monty on the US Seniors Tour.
We now have the majority of your membership packs to collect in the shop please collect the next time you are in the pro shop and if possible keep your cards on you because there will be some checks in the next few weeks.
I'm sure you will all agree that the course is turning around for the better, but there were grizzles and even video evidence of your struggles with the long rough, so let's try and help the green keeper in identifying the areas that you have the most concerns with. Be constructive though as we certainly won't cut it all back as you have to set a course up for a scratch player because that's where you get a handicap from.
I played nine on Monday and hit 3 balls off of every tee. I didn't lose a ball but at the same time we want to keep the pace of play up and for you not to lose too many balls. If you hit an arching slice 100 yards right of the fairway, should you be able to find it or play it?? But please do email me with the areas that you feel should be looked at.
Message from Daniel the head greenkeeper:
This week on course happenings:
All course greens have been sprayed with Growth Regulator and light feed (Tuesday)
The usual cutting regime will take place during the week for most surface's (hopefully dry cuts)
Will start spraying fairways with Growth Regulator (Wednesday) hope to knock Greenwood out before Friday, as hope to spray the range with Herbicide to T.K.O the weeds
Depending on how greens look by lunch time tomorrow, will look to single pass the greens with the Verti-cutting reels Thursday morning. This will then remove more of the poa seed heads and unwanted lateral growth.
This weeks' video is a bit left field as it's about feel and your ability to hit good shots even if the swing is a bit unorthodox.
Message from Gemma in the office:
