Congratulations this week go to Rory, Kate and Wills, and more importantly Richard Curtis who off of a 12 handicap shot a gross 77 to make a nett 65 and a clear winner of the Anniversary Cup. Second was John 'Chip' Hammal with 69 and third was Graham Cooke the top nine all have prizes to collect.

Staying with competitions the closing date for the singles and pairs is today (Thursday, 7 May), we will do the draw the following day.

The new Ladies group started this week, there is space for a couple more to join. It will run each week for the summer season and is a great chance for the newbies to learn in a relaxed atmosphere i.e. lots of chatting with a sprinkling of golf.

Congratulations to greenkeeper Mark whose wife had a baby, about an hour after the royal baby from what I understand. He gets a silver penny and a picture in the Echo.

"Last week the height of cut for the greens on all course's was taken down from 5mm to 4.5mm, on Wednesday, 6 May they had gone down another 0.5mm to 4mm and this is removing nearly all of the current poa seed heads. With the current weather forecast stopping most course works that deal with spraying and top dressing, most of the work we will be carrying out will be general cutting. Once weather improves we will look to continue spraying growth regulators to greens and eventually fairways etc, tee's have already been sprayed once. With regards to top dressing they will all see a good application of sand as well as certain bad areas, seeing more than they've seen in the past."
