Who came out on top?

This year's Seniors' Championship was held on Monday, 24 August on the Greenwood Course off the white tees. Fifty seniors members took part with a tie on a gross score of 84 delivered by Dave Pearce and Frank Vine.

The winner was decided on a play-off where Dave Pearce got the better of Frank on the second hole. Dave Pearce was declared as Senior's Champion and Frank Vine Nett Winner. Other categories 65+ years won by Prem Sepala and 75+ years won by Brian Cann.

Some interesting scores...

The weekly competition through up some interesting results especially in division three where 33 points were enough to pick up the money for second and third place but the winner by eight shots was Chris Berry with 41 points.

In division two, Richard Boyland came in third place with 36 points, in second place was Chris Cox with 37 points but the winner was big Dave Stewart (I fitted Dave into a new TaylorMade SIM driver that led on to a few lessons and recently Dave took delivery of a SIM 7-wood - this thing is a beast in his hands so I was not surprised at all Dave has won the division with 39 points).

The big guns in division one were in third place Kev Hayward with 38 points, second place was Brian Needle with 38 points but first on countback with a fancy new Odyssey putter was Ben Stanger 38 points.

Top two showdown

What better way to finish a PGA Tour event than a shoot-out between the world’s top two players?

Dustin Johnson, World No. 1, needed to nail a winding 43-foot putt over a ridge on the final hole to force a playoff… And he did. The putt lasted an incredible 10 seconds.

World No. 2 Jon Rahm must’ve felt sick heading out for the first playoff hole. If he did, he hid it well. The Spaniard made DJ’s miracle putt look mediocre as he sunk one from 66-feet for victory. That’s what I call pinch-yourself golf!

Pairing you with your perfect irons
