Who came out on top?

On Monday, 6 July, our senior's section played their first Major tournament of the season on the Greenwood course off the white tees in very windy conditions.

Fifty-two players trod the fairways, rough and greens, and the eventual winner on 36 points after countback was Gerry Connolly.

The course was in great condition and everyone adhered to the social distancing measures whilst sharing conversation and jokes maintaining our senior's objective to play competitive golf in a social environment.

Thanks to all the staff at East Horton for making this first senior's tournament possible.

A fantastic performance

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.

It goes to show how consistent the top players are. So, rather than trying to hit the ball further, maybe we should all be striving for more consistency in our game? Share your thoughts with us using the button below.

Being a single-figure golfer, there's a good chance that at least one club in your bag has been fitted to suit your swing. A recent survey highlighted that nearly a quarter of golfers who haven’t been custom fitted before believe that they are not good enough to go through the fitting process. We're incredibly passionate about finding the best clubs for your game - no matter your golfing ability or experience - and an enjoyable fitting experience is the most effective way to do this and help you improve as a golfer.

Consistency is key

It’s nice to be able to hit the ball further and more accurately, and a custom fitting will help with that, but the main thing is to be more consistent so that your bad shots are few and far between.

This is the most enjoyable part for any golfer - trying out the latest equipment from different brands. It's not just about what performs best, but also about what you prefer in both looks and feel.

Once we have a club that you particularly like, we'll look at the finer details with you so it's perfectly set-up for your game. We appreciate it's a big purchase, so we want to ensure you walk away happy.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?
