What a difference a week makes. For me and so many of you that came in after your rounds at the weekend the decision to protect the courses has been totally justified. It really made our weekend in the pro shop to see so many positive members.

But in order for us to keep pushing on with progress on the course, you must do your part too. Leyon played on Friday afternoon and was amazed at the amount of pitch marks there were, considering the course had not been played on in two months and only members had played that day! In addition whilst I was teaching during Saturday afternoon, I saw four players hitting into the 18th that took big divots that never retrieved or replaced them. Let's all do our bit, the green keepers are going to do all they can so it's up to us as good golfers with good etiquette and pride in your course to police the damage anyone does. If you see anybody not replacing divots or repairing pitch marks please pull them up on it. It's not just a problem here, it's a problem at every club in the world, but an unnecessary one nonetheless.

FlightScope doing wonders again

I just wanted to show you what two sessions with FlightScope can do for your game. Lloyd Brookes came to me ready to through the clubs away as he had lost confidence and yardage. One of the figures from his initial session was angle of attack; this was plus 3.4 with a 6 iron. To give you some idea what that means, a tour player would be about -2.5! The problem came from Lloyds sway as he moved away from the ball - which we have tackled this week and reduced his average angle of attack down to +0.3 on average. He's not the finished article but we're well on the way to much better ball striking. Already he has gained an average of 11 yards on his 6 iron and increased the ball speed by 5mph.

As you can see the difference in Lloyds first session compared to his second. His finish position and sway away from the ball line has vastly improved. Improvements you can see straight away!
