Hot weather and golf to match… What a scorcher of a week with the weather and also the golf Rob Cox was up to with his usual tricks by winning Division One in the stableford with 42 points and now off a handicap of 2.8. Division Two was won by Tim Bull with 40 points and Division 3 was won by Andy Boyd on 39 points. I’m not sure what to make of The Open, visually stunning and interesting for three days but with the recent cricket and tennis being so close and thrilling I guess it was a slight anti-climax. All credit to Shane Lowry, he was defiantly a cut about the rest and a special moment for Irish golf and all the work he must have put in. On better news I had Koepka and Fleetwood each way!
Howdidido league… Well what can you say about the Parkland Trophy? A lot has been said but none of it repeatable here lol! I said last week it could be very high scoring and I wasn't wrong. Rob Cox has had his lead cut to 450 points and with 3 medals to go, he could be too far ahead but saying that, the final qualifying medal is on the Parkland so who knows? It’s a little disappointing to see we had 94 entries to the competition over last weekend but still only have 28 playing for this year’s trophy! Please badger your playing partners to join in even if it is only for the bragging rights in your group! The new league table will be on the noticeboard by Thursday evening. Here is the top 5: 1st - Robert Cox = 6031 points 2nd - Stuart Norris = 5590 points 3rd - Nick Portlock = 5394 points 4th - Marian Kalnovic = 5218 points 5th - Richard Lang = 5186 points Don't forget the competition runs until August 25th. It includes all medal competitions held on both courses played from 1st April, so don't worry if you think it’s too late as those scores will be included and it’s your best 5 scores that count. Remember it is FREE to enter on the Howdidido website and it takes 2 minutes to sign up. They take care of all the scoring and points, so all you have to do is enter the medal comps at the club and the silverware could be yours!
