The good early winter golf weather continues, with only light rain forecast and a very mild week ahead. Positive signs are the buggies are still on and no real sign of coming off of the grass tees, and as I write this Leyon is cutting the fairways. Enjoy this week’s newsletter!

Competition news

Tough but fair!

This week was a Greenwood medal with tough conditions but also fair for this time of year. Division One was won by Kevin Hayward with a solid nett 70, Division Two was Micheal Brooks on nett 71 and Division Three was won by Wally Stefanczuk with nett 74.

We may have to jig the divisions a little more but it looked fair, as we go into winter golf if the entry goes below 50 we will go back to one division.

That was the last medal of the year, next week it’s a Parkland Stableford and for the ladies they will have a November stableford on both courses in which you can play once in each.

A story of what could have been...

It was all-change at the top of the world rankings yet again, as Justin Rose reclaimed the number one spot after winning the Turkish Airlines Open. The Englishman beat China’s Li Haotong in a playoff after both players finished on 17-under-par.

For Li, it was certainly a story of what could have been after a series of near-misses down the final stretch. To compound his misery further, Li had a makeable putt on the first playoff hole to claim victory, only to race his first attempt a few feet past before failing to hole the one coming back. A three-putt for Li and a second consecutive Turkish Airlines Open victory for Rose, securing his place back at the summit of the world rankings.

Electric dreams

Winter golf can be very enjoyable if you're fully prepared, but a thing of nightmares if you're not. We know many of you use a Motocaddy electric trolley to transport your bag around the course, but do you have the correct winter accessories attached to get you through your round?
