Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, in this week’s mail we have some great achievements in the weekend’s Bogey Cup, I played a small part in Paul Osbourne’s 46pts, Gary Hague rounds up the FootJoy league, and the TaylorMade GAPR iron is coming soon. Enjoy the read!

Competition news

The Bogey Cup

This was as eventful as ever with its a fun format, which about half of you understand, with the aim is to get as many up on the course in a matchplay format. Notable mentions to Rob Cox in 4th place with a gross 66 with a five on the last from 150 yards in, giving a +6 score.

Steve Reader was in 3rd with +6 and 2nd with his best ever round was KEITH SNELLING +7! The winner was Mark Wakling with a whopping +8. The other big winner scooping the twos pot was Nick Portlock (pictured) with an ace on the 10th .

Seniors Charity Day

The Seniors Section nominated Charity for 2018, is the Sophie Barringer Trust. The trust was established in 2003 by Mike and Lin Barringer. The local charity offers support for children with cancer. Since its inception the charity has raised around £500 000, which has supported both children and parents through very difficult times.

The annual charity day took place last week and the trophy was lifted by Paul Osborne who scored 46 points on the Parkland course. Paul came to me last week for a little therapy and something must have clicked to achieve this impressive score and winning by six shots. We raised £1349 on the day which will be going to a great cause.

FootJoy league round-up – Gary Hague

Well it good to see a few more members have joined the competition this month, welcome to Brian Needle and Ken Hickling. This has put the cat amongst the pigeons as Brian jumps straight into second spot only 114 points behind our leader Danny France. So if you've had a good medal season, get signed up and see where you stand in the club!

Just to clarify it is FREE to enter on the Howdidido website and they take care of all the scoring and points, all you have to do is enter the medal comps at the club. Don't forget there is a trophy at the end of it in October. You can still take part as your best 5 medal scores from April are taken into account. There are 29 members now on the leaderboard but there is always room for more, so those that are already in please badger you’re playing partners to sign up.

Top 5 as it stands

The Pro shop cup didn't have much effect but the monthly medal changed things up significantly. I'm not sure if the Bogey cup will count towards the competition, so your last chance to dethrone Danny could be the September medal. With the way the course is playing I am expecting some big scores to be carded for the final day if the weather holds out. Once the competition has ended in October and final scores published I will sort out the trophy and presentation.
