Welcome to another edition of our newsletter, this week we update you on the rough out on the course, we talk scoring, report from the Howdidido order of merit final, and we have some perfect gift ideas including new coaching packages. Enjoy the read!

Rough update

At long last we have had a decent spell of dry weather, this has given the green keepers the long awaited chance to blitz the rough! All of the three rough mowers have had their heights lowered to their minimum setting, and with the onset of the first frosts, this should hopefully cure the problem of the second cut. Although the trade-off will be that there will be some dead grass until the areas can be gone over a few times.

Chris Jones

Some very sad news and a great shock to us all, with the sudden passing or Chris Jones. He was a lovely happy go lucky man and far too young to go. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, daughters and his brother Nigel.

Low scoring

It will be interesting to see if the course will play any easier this week with the scores in last week’s competition being alarmingly low. Division 1 was won with 34 points from Ron Quelch, Scott Thomas took division 2 with 36points and in division 3, Brian Harding won with 31 points!

Howdidido Titleist Order of Merit

This year’s final was played last weekend at the Trump Turnberry course in Scotland. Sixteen finalists from around the country enjoyed a 2 day experience with overnight accommodation at the Trump hotel. Day 1 consisted of a ball and club fitting by Titleist followed by a practice 18 holes on the Robert the Bruce course. Day 2 was finals day with the 16 finalists battling out on the Ailsa Championship course. John Maguire (3 hcp) shot 38 points to take the 2017 title.

Well done to Matt who has played some great golf this year. It would be good next April to get more than 13 members of the club signed up to this next year. It is free and just requires a few clicks of the mouse on the website.

Coaching packages 2018

If you are getting stuck for Christmas present ideas and at the same time want to move your golf on next season we have added 3 new coaching packages.

Albatross package - One hour lesson per month including "flightscope" and video analysis which can be done on the course or on the range. The 12 x 1 hour sessions (one per month) are priced at £300 with saving of £120!

Eagle package - One half hour lesson per month with video analysis. One per month is £180 and saves £60!

Birdie package - Three two hour playing lessons including a buggy book any time in 2018. This package is £150 and comes with a saving £60!

Par package - Six half hour lessons for £100 which saves £20!
