Club Championship

The club championship had a thrilling end with the morning scores steady if not spectacular, Rob Cox had an early morning lead with a 77 in windy and tricky conditions and the field bunched up behind him. 

The drama all happened on the last hole of the second round unknown to the players as Andy Venning had a two shot lead on the 18th tee over young gun Liam Spencer. Liam had just gone 3, 3 on the 16th and 17th and unbelievably he made another 3 eagling the 18 to Andy's 6 and that three shot swing in one hole gave Liam the title.

In the handicap championship Matt Targett senior showed it's not just his sons that have all the sporting talent with a very good nett 70 in very testing windy conditions. 

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all of you that played and stayed behind until the end, the format seemed to work and there were a lot of compliments about the course conditions which I have passed on to Dan.




The Second Major of the Year

Erin Hills takes centre stage this week as the US Open rolls into town for the very first time.

It's probably the closest course America has to a links course we see every year at The Open with its tremendously undulating greens and fairways, not to mention the ridiculous 8,100 yardage from the back tees. Be sure to click on our Video of the Week here to view the course for yourself.

So who's in with a chance of winning? Well, accuracy off the tee is going to be paramount; not just to give the pros the best opportunity to hit the right portion of the green, but also because if they're two yards wide of the fairway then they're sure to be hacking out sideways from the two-feet tall rough.

Reigning champion Dustin Johnson is the unsurprising favourite heading into the week having been in incredible from with three wins already this year. Can you see past the world number one?
