25th Anniversary
May the 1st was a landmark day for Conrad and myself as it was the 25th anniversary of East Horton and myself and Conrad's continuous service at the club.
I came initially to experience a different kind of golf club as I had previously worked at private members clubs, I thought it may be for a year or two, but the place grew and grew from 18 holes and pro shop on the end of a barn to this sprawling and fantastic 45 hole complex. I have known some of you now man and boy, lots of people members and staff have come and gone and lots of friendships have been made.
The course is in its best shape for 25 years mainly thanks to Dan our newish head green keeper, it's a mammoth challenge but one he is rising to.
I have to thank our families who do appreciate we work about 50 weekends a year and some long unsociable hours but it's our job and we love it. And one special thank you to my Polly who all by herself made a cake. We have had a couple of shirts made to mark the occasion and if you fancy one, we are using a top quality FootJoy shirt priced £34.95 and I will embroider it for free!
Senior Captain's Day 2017
Thank you all so much for supporting Captain's Day and to all of the Seniors Committee for organising and ensuring that all went well. I am fortunate to have a good committee behind me so please remember how much work they put in for the benefit of all of us to make sure everything runs well.
The winner was Nial Hayden with 37 points after countback. He will receive the Frank Gill Trophy and a bottle of Bells whisky.
Best par 3 score was John Cecil, (bottle of wine). Longest drive was Ian Chetwynd (bottle of wine). Nearest to the pins on holes 12 & 14 were, Mike Congdon (bottle of wine) and Roger Curtis (bottle of wine). Lowest score Brian Harding (bottle of Hobgoblin).
If anyone is reading this or has received this in error - NO WE ARE NOT A BUNCH OF OLD WINO'S although we are getting a little concerned!!
On The Mend
Now some good news, Prem Sepala was back playing after being re-constructed by the hospital and looking very fit, and I am told that although it is not all plain sailing Doug Chancellor is also on the mend following major surgery. Best wishes to you both and I know that sentiment is shared by all of us.
Notification
Now the sad news, the trophy we played for today was the Frank Gill trophy. Frank was the first ever Senior's Captain and was very well respected. I did not know Frank but it is with regret to those that did that I have to inform you that Frank passed away recently, 23rd March 2017. It appears that Frank had reached his 90's so he had done well. As a mark of respect for the man that some of you may remember and as an ex seniors captain (the very first) we intend to have a plaque mounted on the seniors bench on the 9th hole on the Greenwood course.

Finchy Is Back!
May be only for a few months but we are delighted to have the brain box back. He has however returned with one of those cool beards and engaged! I did watch him stripe a few irons down the range at the demo day don't play him for money old finchy is a better player indeed.
