I hope most of you got a chance to see some of the Ryder Cup? Ultimately the United States dominated the final-day singles to win for the first time since 2008, beating Europe 17-11 at Hazeltine. 

Trailing 9½-6½ after the first two days, Europe looked set for a comeback when they led in seven of the 12 singles matches. But the hosts turned the tide, Patrick Reed defeating Rory McIlroy in a classic tussle for the first of seven US wins. Ryan Moore beat Lee Westwood on the 18th green for the decisive point. 

In the bigger picture it's good for the game one sided fights are never have the lustre of a ding dong battle? Roll on 2018 in France when our young team should be good enough to cope with this very hot US team.  




Still on the matchplay theme, our summer singles final was played last week between Ben Stanger and Mark Pearce. And the winner was the Leicester of Golfers as Mark Pearce stunned his regular partners to hold his nerves/temper to beat the fast improving Ben. Congratulations to you both and to Mark you best drop Justin as your partner now you are champion! 



Message from the head green keeper 

"This is an update to those of you who are going to or have played this week. You may have noticed the disappearance of our semi-rough, this is simply due to a major mechanical failure on the only piece of equipment which can cut the semi. We have had parts flown in from the States and the machine should be up and running by 10am Thursday. In the meantime, our head green-keeper has begged and borrowed a similar piece of kit which he's collecting from Surrey today. This will be in use for the rest of the week along with the repaired semi-rough machine, so hopefully by the weekend you won't even know we had an issue."
